Yes, I’m a lawyer. Yes, I own my own law firm. But I also spent 17 years in marketing; 11 of which I spent building and running a content marketing agency. I learned how to communicate clearly. How to build systems that actually serve people. How to make complex decisions feel manageable.

I built every part of this practice around one truth: families, identities, and organizations are beautifully varied. And they all deserve to be accepted, honored, and celebrated. I’ve designed every aspect of my firm to do just that, from intake forms to the questions I ask to the legal documents you receive.

What's in a Name?
Many folx have asked why I named this law firm Cove & Counsel. Aside from my penchant for alliteration, a cove truly symbolizes everything I want this practice to offer:
- A sanctuary: Its physical nature as a protected inlet makes a cove a potent symbol of a safe haven: a place to rest, recuperate, or weather a storm.
- A place of new beginnings: As the meeting point between the open, often unpredictable waters and solid land, a cove can represent a point of transition or new beginnings.
- A place to reflect: The calm waters and secluded nature of a cove evoke tranquility and provide space for introspection.
- Privacy: Coves are typically small and somewhat hidden, symbolizing a private, secluded retreat or a "nook" away from the public eye.
The "Counsel" part is pretty straightforward, as lawyers are also called counselors at law.
Together, the two words say it all.
